Attendance Matters - 8:00am is "on time"

For their best chance for academic success, all students need to be in their class line when the bell rings.

We are encouraging students to arrive at school no later than 7:50 am to be on time for class.  This will give students enough time to greet their friends and educators before the bell.

Please discuss this at home.  Some students might need support developing strategies to get out the door early enough to be here on time.

Consistent attendance is essential to educational success.

The Student Achievement Plan: Global Competencies

A Student Achievement Plan (SAP) establishes school priorities, goals and performance indicators to support continuous, quality improvement.  It is a standardized tool for schools to identify local actions that will lead to improved achievement, equity, well-being and transitions for all students.

We will continue to Be Innovative and focus on 21st Century skills.  St. Elizabeth School, like all schools in the OCSB, is a Deep Learning school.  While we focus on all Global Competencies, for this school year we are paying special attention to Communication and Character in all courses, and in all interactions in our school.

Communication is an essential skill that will help your child interact with others, express their thoughts, feelings and ideas. This skill also allows your child to understand others and involves using a variety of tools and mediums to connect with the right audience.

Character is one of the more apparent skills that your child will need throughout their whole life. This skill describes how your child interacts with others in the world and produces important traits like perseverance, resilience, humility and kindness.

Dressing for Winter Weather

Grade 1-6 students go outdoors for approximately 60 minutes each day (two 15 minute recesses, and one 30 minute lunch recess), weather permitting. We strongly encourage students to wear a warm jacket, snow pants, winter boots, hat and mitts in the cold weather.

At this time of year, even the school temperature can be cool at times.  We recommend that students wear layers to stay warm if they are cold.

Parent Portal & Forms

It is very important that all guardians/parents update and verify the following information in the Parent Portal ASAP.

Please note that this must be done each school year.

Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA)

The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) is responsible for the management and administration of all home to school transportation on behalf of the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB).

Subscribe to OSTA’s mailing list to receive email notifications of transportation cancellations right to your handheld device or personal computer.

Register for School Cash Online

Register for SchoolCash Online. It is an easy to use and safe way to pay for fees, field trips, spirit wear, pizza, popcorn and other school related items.

All families must register for an account as we no longer accept cash for payment at the school.

Stay Connected with School Messenger

If your child is registered at St. Elizabeth, then you are already set up to receive emergency and attendance messages by phone or email.

However, if you would like to receive other messages such as school updates and newsletters, you must sign up to SchoolMessenger and set your notification preferences. When signing up, you must use the same email address that you provided to your child’s school at the time of registration.

Anytime you update your email with the school in Parent Portal, you must sign up for SchoolMessenger using your new email address.  For more information, click here.
